Tying a Windsor Knot - The largest of the knots

Tying a Windsor knot can be a little confusing at first, but with some practice you'll be able to master the knot that was supposedly invented by the Duke of Windsor. This knot eliminates gaps between the tie and collar and produces the largest (widest) knot so it is excellent for spread collars.

A classic knot you should master!

You should use ties that have a thin to medium thickness when tying Windsor knots. Ties made of thick material don't work well with this knot. The Windsor is excellent for men with long necks as the wideness of the knot visually reduces the neck's length. This knot has a classic look that is well suited for men who want to project confidence.

Are you ready to start knotting up that tie? Okay, stand in front of your mirror and follow the instructions below. Remember practice makes perfect knots!

7. Use both hands to tighten the knot and bring up to the collar.

Did you do the Duke of Windsor proud? If not, keep trying until you can produce a nice wide knot. When the Windsor Knot is completed, the ends of the tie should be of equal length or the wide end of the tie should be a bit longer than the narrow end.
