Motorized Tie Racks
For the tie connoisseur who invests in silk ties and designer neckties, having a good storage system is just as important as having a matching handkerchief to tuck in their breast pocket. The busy entrepreneur must be able to grab just the right tie from their closet quickly and easily while dashing out the door to their morning meeting.
A motorized tie rack can be just the help they need to save them those precious few seconds. When shopping for this motorized yet macho machine, there are a few key points to consider.
How Many Ties
How big is your tie collection? How many ties do you expect to acquire within the next few years? Take a count before you start your shopping search so that you don't get a rack that is too small or too big.
Size of Rack
Where will you mount the tie rack? Do you need a rack that mounts under a shelf or that mounts against the wall and sticks out perpendicularly? How deep is your closet shelf? How many inches do you have between the door frame and the hanging bar? Some racks mount onto the hanging bar in your closet. Is your bar standard size? If it is under-sized the rack may not mount securely.
Power Source
Will the rack need to be plugged in? Is there a convenient plug in your closet?
Does the rack obtain its power from batteries? How easy is it to access the battery compartment? You might prefer a rack that requires a common-sized battery as opposed to an obscure size.
Operation
Can you operate the rack with one hand while you're shaving with the other?
How quiet is the rack? Will it wake your spouse in the next room or your child who sleeps on the other side of the wall? How smooth is the rack? A rack that does not turn smoothly may cause hanging ties to get hung up along the way or be thrown off of the rack due to the momentum of excessive swaying.
Additional Features
One nice feature of quality tie racks is a non-slip surface that keeps your ties from slipping off the holder and onto the floor. Some racks include a light which may be a necessity for those with poor closet lighting. Most motorized tie racks perform double duty and will also hold belts too. Remember to count your belts in addition to your ties before you head for the store.
